Colds and Flu - 10 Things To Do



COLD AND FLU SEASON STRATEGIES

The best treatment for a cold or flu is prevention. Because many essential oils have strong antimicrobial properties, they can be diffused to prevent the spread of airborne germs.

My favorite essential oils and blends with strong antimicrobial properties, extremely effective for killing germs are: Thieves, Oregano, Cinnamon Bark, Purification, Raven, R.C., and Sacred Mountain

A healthy immune system is your first line of defense against colds and flu. Your immune system, a complex combination of a variety of white blood cells, attacks and destroys harmful invading organisms. When strong, the immune system can defeat invading cold and flu viruses.

The following steps may be helpful in strengthening your body's natural defenses or in helping you feel better when you do get a cold.

1. CLEANSE THE COLON AND THE LIVER:

A dirty colon is a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses that may overwhelm immune defenses. If bad bacteria growth is prolific, the good (defensive) bacteria may be choked out. Keeping a healthy filtering system assists the body in maintaining immune balance.

ComforTone (#3204) and JuvaTone (#3214)
offer excellent support for cleansing the system.


2. AVOID EXCESS SUGARS AND HIGHLY PROCESSED FOODS:

Remember, a single can of soda contains 10-12 teaspoons of added sugar!


3. EAT PLAIN YOGHURT:

Eat PLAIN yoghurt with live cultures or take supplements that supply live bacteria. Researchers at the University of California at Davis did a study on 120 elderly and young adults, and found that yoghurt eaters, as a group, had about 25 fewer colds during the year in comparison to non-yoghurt eaters.

The live bacteria boost immune function to fight off infections and allergic reactions. In addition to eating Yoghurt, a supplement like Life-5 (#3099) is a good choice.


4. DIFFUSE THERAPEUTIC ESSENTIAL OILS:

Cold-Air Diffuser The best treatment for a cold or flu is prevention. Because many essential oils have strong antimicrobial properties, they can be diffused to prevent the spread of airborne germs. br>
Diffuse therapeutic essential oils in your home and office. Distributors who diffuse Thieves (#3423), Purification (#3399), Raven (#3402), and other essential oil blends report that they get fewer or no colds during cold and flu season, even when people around them are sick.


5. SUPPLEMENT YOUR DIET:

A number of supplements have proven effective in supporting normal immune function. Two favorite supplements that are helpful during cold and flu season are: Exodus (#3205) and ImmuPro (#3213). Both are powerful antioxidants.


6. DRINK LOTS OF FLUID:

When you have a cold, your nose is normally stuffed up, so you breathe through the mouth. This dries the respiratory tract, creating a perfect environment for viruses. Hot drinks tend to be better than cold ones, as the vapor from the drink may help with congestion.


7. VAPORIZE WITH THERAPEUTIC-GRADE ESSENTIAL OILS:

Inhale the following mix of essential oils or put them in a steam vaporizer:


8. TAKE A HOT GINGER BATH:

Ginger has a warming and stimulating effect on the body. Put 1-2 tbsp. of grated ginger in a cloth bag and drop it into a tub of hot water. Soaking in the tub will allow you to sweat profusly. Sweating pulls toxins from the body. Afterwards, wrap yourself in warm blankets until the sweating stops. Note: It is important to have someone available in case you need help getting out of the tub.


9. RUB THERAPEUTIC-GRADE ESSENTIAL OILS ON YOUR BODY:

No cold and flu defense is complete without the Golden Touch 1 Kit (# 3130). R.C. (#3405), Raven (#3402), and Melrose (#3378), rubbed on the chest, neck, and throat bring a lot of comfort to those suffering from cold and flu symptoms.

If you experience common nausea, rub Di-Tone (#3324) on your abdomen. For children mix these oils in a massage oil base.


10. REST - REST - REST!
A cold is your body's way of telling you that you need a rest. If you refuse to rest, you will eventually succumb to a harsher sickness that will force you to take that needed break.
Let's face it. None of the above remedies will take the place of your mother's tender care. Her loving touch is the best medicine. However, if mother can't be there to comfort you with chicken soup, the above steps will bring a lot of needed relief from this most common disease.
